What are some symptoms of my ignition key switch going bad?
When you insert the key into the cylinder, it can have resistance in rotating over to the start position, almost like you have the wrong key in it. It can take some jiggling around to make it work. Other times the key can get jammed in it and make it impossible to pull out. So why does it happen? Your vehicle is setup with an immobilizer unit which includes your transponder ring to be able to read the chip inside the key so that it can crank over to start. Secondly, it has a BCM module that connects to all your controls throughout the vehicle including but not limited to your power door locks. Thirdly, the ignition switch cylinder and housing. The switch allows the vehicle to know that it has the correct key in it so that it will rotate over, when they fail the wafers inside them get bent and sometimes break all together causing the key to jam up and not work freely. Replacing the ignition switch is no simple task due to the dangers of working around the airbag system on the steering wheel, after it's replaced, the new keys need to programmed because they are cut differently than the original one. Usually, a service takes about 2 hours to complete from start to finish. If you're not in Columbus, Ohio we can schedule a day and time that works best to get it done so that it does not affect your daily routine. We keep in stock common brands like Honda, VW and Jeep for faster turnaround times.
Customer bought keys off Amazon and Ebay
Did you buy a car key online and now you need it cut and programmed? We can provide that service for you, just like we can with our extensive range of keys in stock. If it ends up not working, you can return it, and we can program one of our own tested keys and give you a 30-day warranty just in case you have any problems with it in the future. The quality of keys offline are of cheaper quality then of an OEM key but can suffice if in a pinch. Please note however for vehicles newer than 2016, this service cannot be provided as new vehicles now require OEM-only key programming only and won't accept aftermarket keys to be programmed to the system.

āāāāāāāAccidents happen, usually when you're at the grocery store or on lunch break. You run in really quick to grab something, the next minute you realize you don't have your car keys. Broken locks make it difficult to secure your car
āāSometimes the only way to lock up a vehicle is by using the door lock if its not equipped with RKE. But locks do fail over time, when not maintained the springs and wafers and can break apart and lock up so that it can no longer lock or unlock properly. You want to have it replaced but don't want to use 2 separate keys. A car locksmith can help you get it rekeyed to match the original key so that works like new again.
āMy ECU needed to be replaced now my car won't start
āWhen a new ECU is installed into the car, it needs to know the correct vin for it to start and needs to be synced to it. Sometimes an automotive scanner will not accomplish the task, so you need to call a car locksmith to assist you in mating the new ECU to the vehicle. If you're having issues getting it to start, this is the reason why. We can program both Ford and Honda computers, but Fords will require a second key to be programmed to the system in order to close it out.
My car doesn't have keyless entry to lock it remotely
āāThe convenience of being able to wireless control the locks is nice to have any day of the year but especially during the rough winters of Ohio because locks have a tendency to freeze up and not work at all unless you have the special lube to unfreeze them. Believe it or not if you own a GM vehicle you could be missing out on the option having a remote start feature to start it up from inside. A quick way to check to see if you have the feature or not for remote start is to raise the hood of the car and check to see if there is a wire running from the left of the hood latch. If it has it, then you have the remote start package.

āDon't slam that...trunk..to late, the keys are inside
āHow do you even get a trunk opened that's locked? Very skillfully and not with a pry bar. If it's an old vehicle, sometimes it requires a different key to work it. If it's a new car, more than likely the alarm is activated, disengaging the electric lock button from working unless it is manually unlocked. A car locksmith will have the proper tools to get the trunk popped open fast whether electronic or manual without damaging the latch or triggering alarms.
Reliable Car Key Repair Solutions in Columbus, Ohio
āWe can repair keys without the need for replacement, saving you money in your wallet. Ford and GM remote flip keys tend to snap where the end is held in by chrome plastic because the key can be accidently broken if the steering wheel locks up and you try to turn the key on but instead you wind up breaking it apart. Same thing goes for remote head keys, but they break at a different point at the end where the key blade meets the remote, usually on Honda's this occurs the most.

Bryan did a great job creating a key fob for my Nissan Rogue Sport, He gave me an advance call at PRECISELY the time he'd promised, then arrived at precisely one hour later, as he'd promised. He was finished in 20 minutes, creating a brand new fob with no template to work from. And the price was exactly what he'd quoted me. It was a bit pricey, as all such programmed keys are, but considering he kept all his promises, and it was still $170 LESS THAN THE dealer quoted me, I was very pleased. I don't know how you could go wrong by using Bryan at Bryman's Locksmith!
